Maya Angelou was a celebrated author, poet, playwright, producer, performer and civil rights activist. She married twice, the first marriage to Greek sailor and electrician, Tosh Angelos taking place in 1951, when she was only 18. This marriage was short-lived however, and ended in 1954.

It was not until 1973 that Maya Angelou got remarried to Paul du Feu, a building contractor and electrician from London. They enjoyed a much more successful union, which lasted until they divorced in 1982, nine years after they wed.
