Ingredients
- 1½ lbs 650 g green cabbage, finely shredded
- 4 oz. (½ cup) 110 g (120 ml) unsalted butter
- 1 tsp 1 tsp onion powder
- 2 tsp 2 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tbsp 1 tbsp white wine vinegar
- 1½ lbs 650 g ground beef or ground turkey
- 5 oz. 140 g blue cheese
- 1 cup 240 ml heavy whipping cream
- 1 tsp 1 tsp salt
- ¼ tsp ¼ tsp ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Making low carb simple
Instructions
Melt half of the butter in a large frying pan or wok, over medium-high heat. Add the cabbage, stirring until it softens.
Add spices and vinegar. Stir and fry for a few more minutes. Reserve sautéed cabbage in a bowl.
Melt the remaining butter in the same pan. Add the ground meat and fry until the meat is cooked through, and most of the juices have evaporated.
Lower the heat to medium-low, and add the cheese. Stir until the cheese has melted.
Add the heavy cream and let simmer for a few more minutes. Add the cabbage, and stir until everything is evenly hot.
Season with salt and pepper to taste and sprinkle the parsley on top before serving.
Tip
Crack slaw is delicious reheated. Make extra and enjoy for lunch or even dinner, two nights in a row! Yes, it's that good.

I made this for dinner tonight and it was delicious. My husband loved it too. I followed the recipe exactly and it was very quick and easy. I'll be making this again for sure.

Delicious!! I didn't have wine vinegar, so I used apple cider vinegar. Also didn't have blue cheese (and don't care much for it), so I used feta cheese!! Wow!!! Can't wait to make it again!!

I've always found the idea of blue cheese to be a bit repulsive but after successfully chowing down on brussel sprouts and olives thanks to dietdoctor, I thought I would give this a whirl. It was spectacular, excellent blend of flavours and am looking forward to cooking it again.

I can't visualise 120ml fresh parsley. A container full of fresh parsley weighs 50gr. 120gr sounds like it's going overboard.
How much did others use, pls?

I was so looking forward to this, but didn’t like it. The thyme with blue cheese didn’t work well together, for me. I might try Basel and chives, or perhaps coriander.

I meal prepped this and got 4 lunches out of it. By the third day, I was ready to stop eating beef and cabbage. It was my first and last time eating blue cheese. There was also lots of excess butter that pooled on the top of the dish. If I do make this again, I will use olive oil and feta cheese. 2 stars.

This was interesting and we enjoyed it. 1/2 serving was enough for my husband and me. I put some cheddar on top. I didn't use parsley. I don't know if I will make this again.

I made this but omitted the meat as I wnted to try it as a side dish for barbecued pork cutlets. It turned out to be a brilliant accompaniment with my two diner guests singing its praises. I very much enjoyed it too!

I have made this several times and my husband and I love it! We like blue cheese, but feta would work as well. I prefer this version over other ‘crack slaw’ variations that lean more stir fry. I use a little 1/2 & 1/2 to thin the sauce because I never have heavy cream on hand.

I liked it but I must admit I couldn't bring myself to use blue cheese so replaced it with cream cheese was really nice. Mrs said liked it but is too heavy.

You are using half for the cabbage and the other half later for the meat.
