Ingredients in Homemade Eggnog Milkshake

Eggnog Ice Cream – You should be able to find eggnog ice cream in grocery stores in the fall and winter. It’s a seasonal flavor, and tricky to find outside of the holiday season. I also highly suggest that you try making my Homemade Eggnog Ice Cream for this shake.

Milk – The creamiest milkshakes are made with whole milk. You can also make this recipe with bourbon instead if you want to enjoy a co*cktail-style milkshake.

How to Make a Milkshake with Eggnog

You may have noticed that this recipe doesn’t actually have any eggnog in it! That’s because we’re starting with eggnog ice cream instead.

If you’d like, you can replace the milk in this recipe with eggnog. Or you can use vanilla ice cream plus eggnog to make a similarly tasty milkshake.

Tips for Making This Eggnog Milkshake Recipe

  • To make more than one milkshake, simply double or triple the ingredients! How many eggnog milkshakes you can make at one time will depend on the size of your blender, so just be sure not to overfill it.
  • Adjust the consistency – You can make a thicker milkshake by using less milk, or a thinner shake by adding more.
  • Try a boozy eggnog milkshake – For the adults, replace some or all of the milk in the recipe with your favorite bourbon.
  • Make it fun – Add garnishes to your milkshake. I like whipped cream, cinnamon, and fresh or dried cranberries. You can always add a maraschino cherry on top too!
  • Like a bit of extra spice? Add a pinch of ground cinnamon or ground nutmeg to the blender. You can also sprinkle these warm spices on top as a garnish.
