What is the best kind of candy to put on a Christmas tree?

Whether you’re doing a full blown candy Christmas tree or are going with traditional ornaments, I’m a firm believer that every tree needs at least one piece of candy. But what type of candy, you ask?

Well, candy canes are the most traditional candy to put on a tree. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t branch out and get creative! For instance, you could do a DIY peppermint holiday ornament with peppermint candies. Or, you could put sprinkles in fillable ornaments (or even M&M’s or Skittles).

Trust me, you might think putting candy on a Christmas tree seems tacky, but it can actually look great. And, it keeps the kids satisfied and always entertained trying to sneak pieces of candy off the tree 🙂 Yummy!

What are some of the most popular Christmas candy recipes?

We’ll go over this in deeper detail below. However, I know you’ve been waiting patiently to know the most popular holiday treats so I’ll give you a sneak peak.

Firstly, any type of candy bark is a homemade Christmas candy staple. You can do peppermint bark, toffee bark or even white candy bark. If you’re feeling adventurous, add some cranberries or oreos into the bark. Delish!

Secondly, Christmas fudge is another go-to during the holiday season. We list some of our favorite fudge recipes down below, so go check them out!

Thirdly, peanut brittle…yum. Santa will be itching to come to your house if you leave some homemade brittle out by the fireplace.Down the chimney he goes!

Lastly, I love serving chocolate candies on a platter every year at Christmas. I usually do a variety of chocolate caramels, chocolate pistachios and some dark chocolate truffles for people to pick from. And I always have some hot chocolate on tap!

What are some of the ingredients in peppermint bark?

Ugh, I’m a true lover of peppermint bark all-year round. There’s just something about it that hits home every time I bite into it’s crunchy chocolate bark consistency. Trader Joe’s bark is fantastic, but sometimes making it homemade is even better. Therefore, check out all the ingredients you need below!

12 oz semisweet chocolate chips
16 oz white chocolate chips
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
3/4 cup crushed candy canes

Firstly, place the semisweet chocolate chips in a medium bowl and microwave them for 30 seconds at a time. Stop once they are melted and stir until you have completely melted chocolate.

Secondly, spread the chocolate into a 9″ x 13″ rectangle on a piece of parchment paper. Place chocolate in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.

Thirdly, place the white chocolate chips in another medium bowl and microwave again until melted. Add peppermint extract and stir.

Lastly, spread white chocolate over the milk chocolate layer. Then sprinkle the candy canes on top. Place in the fridge for 20 minutes and then TA-DA – what a sweet treat. Trust me, you’ll never be able to stop eating this if you have a sweet tooth, so be warned.
